Family Sexual Health Research Association (TURKEY)
ESDA TURKEY was set up as a non-profit organization in 2002 with the aim of providing simple information on common sexual disorders both to patients and to specialists in order to help them become familiar with these conditions and new treatment options.
The scientific board consists of medical practitioners from various fields, including urology/andrology, gynaecology and psychology.

Launched in June 4th 2002, ESDA TURKEY takes the following actions to serve this aim:
- Telephone Line: The hot-line: 0212 282 01 01
(Doctors live: Monday-Friday: 10:00-13:00 and 17:00-19:00, Saturday 10:00-13:00) Apart from the above mentioned hours, a digital secretary system answers the calls 24 hours a day, where the caller can listen to information about all male and female sexual problems, as well as sexually transmitted diseases and infertility.
Fact Sheets currently available are: Erectile Dysfunction, Oral Treatments, Injection Treatment, Transurethral Treatment, Vacuum Devices, Penile Prosthesis, Female Sexual Dysfunction, Infertility, Premature Ejaculation, Retrograde Ejaculation, Peyronie's Disease, Age and Sexuality, Honeymoon Erectile Dysfunction, Size of Penis. As our fact sheets give elementary information on more common sexual disorders, we encourage the patients to visit the specialists. Therefore we have already begun to organize a geographical database for the doctors countrywide. This database is also being included in our web site, with a special mailing system to enable the Academic Council to be in close touch. In February 2004 over 500,000 fliers and 30,000 posters were distributed to hospitals, pharmacies, clinics, shopping centres, cinemas and theatres. Throughout the year ASAD has organised press campaigns, including TV programmes, articles and interviews in newspapers and magazines as well as stand activities in shopping malls. - Web Site: www.esdaturkey.org:
The web site is currently in use. It is linked to ESDA site and to single member country sites. We had significant press coverage after its launch as expected. It covers all our fact sheets on both male and female sexual dysfunction. It has also a website survey and a risk check-up for erectile dysfunction. - Membership Program/Newsletter:
Patients and interested medical specialists can be members of ESDA Turkey without any fees. Members receive the newsletters, update information about the new treatments, our website changes, the surveys, etc. - Other activities:
These activities include public events, contributions to medical conferences and joint campaigns with other charities. We have already established contacts with Turkish Diabetes Society and Turkish Cardiology Association.
Important Activities in 2005
Apart from Valentine's Day: February 14th 2005 organization where each year ESDA Turkey organizes media meetings, stand areas in shopping malls, and commercials in TV, radio stations, two other ESDA TURKEY organizations played the most important role in Sexual Health Coverage in Turkey.
People Are Talking: May 2005
ESDA (European Sexual Dysfunction Alliance) Turkey organized a series of special free of charge events called 'People Are Talking' throughout Turkey with the aim of emphasizing the most important issues about Erectile Dysfunction (ED) by presenting a comedy show -specially prepared highlighting risk factors and treatment options, with a presentation about ED and ESDA Turkey. All the theatre players were well-known actors in Turkey, and the show included 4 small plays about ED, and its effect on the patient and the partner.
