ESSM TRAVEL FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME 2009 


Observing colleagues in centers of excellence abroad is one of the most effective ways of training young physicians in the field of sexual medicine. Clinical visits enable motivated and like-minded clinicians to discuss their clinical findings in person and observe first-hand how management approaches are put into practice.
ESSM supports clinical visits by young physicians to units within Europe. These clinical visits are usually of short duration to a unit which the applicant feels would help their clinical practice. Fellowships should be undertaken within Europe at recognised centres of excellence in an appropriate field of sexual medicine.The maximum grant is Euro 2000,00.
Grants for visits are awarded 2 times yearly. Closing dates for applications are:

• 1 April - for visits between 1 May and 31 October
• 1 October - for visits between 1 November and 31 April

We would like to invite you to submit an application for a grant of up to Euro 2000, for a visit to a unit of your choice, which you feel would help your clinical practice. This will be a competitive grant, judged by a selection committee.
Grants for visits are awarded 2 times yearly. Closing dates for applications are:

• 1 April - for visits between 1 May and 31 October
• 1 October - for visits between 1 November and 31 April

The visit must take place within the six-month period, otherwise the grant will be forfeit. In very exceptional circumstances, an extension to the time limit of no more than six months may be granted on application to the Executive Committee of ESSM
Please include the following:

• The name of the unit you wish to visit
• The reason for your visit
• The benefit you feel you would derive from the visit
• A letter of support from the unit that you wish to visit
• A clear indication of the cost of your visit including travel and hotel
• Your current curriculum vitae (pertinent details only - maximum of 2 pages)

If you would like to visit a particular department but are not acquainted with the head, then we will be more than happy to contact him or her on your behalf.
