Learning Objectives:

  • Recognizing the importance of sexual pleasure as a core component of sexual health
  • Focusing more on sexual pleasure and satisfaction as treatment outcome rather than sexual function and performance
  • Getting insight into the close link between relational and sexual variables -> relational meaning of sexual problems, relationship climate as buffer or risk factor for developing sexual problems and implications for treatment
  • Learning about (variability in) sexual desire (in a relationship), sexuality over the course of the relationship (duration, and context), the good enough sex model, the intimacy change model, emotion-focused versus differentiation approach to include in psychoeducation
  • Understanding the complexity of sexual pleasure in long-term relationship by using case scenarios (for application of knowledge)
